My name is Tammy. I am (was) a career Paramedic put on Disability in 2009. I only get 956.00 a month in Disability benefits. Half of that goes to rent. The rest goes for Utilities, gas, etc. I only get 49.00 in Food stamps. I am on Medicare, but it doesn't cover much at all, and the co-pays for the tests I have to have and my medications (I'm on many) plus Dr. visit co-pays are very high. I cannot pay them with any regularity, and go without my Dr. and medications most of the time. I have tried but cannot get Medicaid, because I make "too much" in Disability by 11.00 dollars. NC is one of the very few states that has a monetary ceiling on Medicaid for the disabled. There is NO way around it, I have tried. Medicare does not cover dental, and I am in pain with my teeth and have only a few left. They have degenerated to almost nothing due to the inhaled medications I take 6-8 times a day. I have already had two bad infections from my teeth and I fear more. My Dr,. said that an infection there can attack my heart and kill me. I need to have what's left pulled and get dentures. I have done research and there is a place in Raleigh that will do everything for around 900.00 dollars, including dentures. There is no way I can do it. Medicare doesn't cover glasses, and mine are at least 6 years old. I got behind in my lights a couple of months ago due to a medical emergency that I had to use light bill money for, and I could never get back straight. Now my lights are due to be cut off on Jan. 28. The bill is 158.00, but I don't have it. I can't get assistance anywhere. I don't qualify for help at DSS because I don't have a newborn, small children in my home and I am not on what this county calls life support, even though my breathing machines run on electricity. I have been struggling just to live since I've been on disability and now I need help very badly. I served my community for over 15 years as a medical provider and now I can get no help anywhere. I have a daughter, but she has a family to support and is in bad shape financially herself, but she does help when she can with what she can, but can't help with that kind of money. She doesn't have 158.00 dollars anymore than I do, much less enough to help me get teeth. I just want to be able to smile at my grandaughter again, that's all. And I want to keep my lights and heat on. If I lose my electricity, I'll never be able to get it back on and will consequently lose my apartment. I can provide verification for everything, how much in disability, utilities bill, etc. This is NOT a scam, this is an honest plea for help from someone, anyone. I worked hard for years as a Paramedic, I paid in to the government like a good taxpayer, yet all I see getting any help when I go to DSS are young people wearing nice clothes and expensive jewelry, talking on new cell phones while they wait and driving fancy cars. I don't want any of those things, I just want to live. I can't get ANYTHING except 49.00 in Food Stamps and my medicare. PLEASE, PLEASE someone help me. Thank you.

Need help with rent, utilities, etc. I have been unemployed for 5 months and have depleted all my money to keep me going. All my bills are due at the end of the month and I have no money. I have applied for Leap but haven't heard back from them. I've made arrangements to pay some of my debts late but I'm only buying time. I'm single and don't have anyone to lean on. I've never been in this situation before and if I can't pay the rent they will start eviction proceedings. I continue to look for work everyday with no luck. I've just hit a rough patch right now and we all do at some time or another. This is my time but I'm optimistic that things will pick up in January. My three girls and I have been through so much trauma, trajedy, heartbreak, and adjustments the past few years, and they deserve so much more than I have been able to give them. My girls are 22, 15, and 13, and all three have bipolar disorder. My oldest refuses to take medication, which is part of the illness. I am a single mom on low income and desperately need help in providing Christmas for them. We also have very little food. I'm hoping someone will have the heart to help me and my 11 year old son by loaning me enough money to get caught up on my rent and utilities so we don't get evicted. I'm currently employed, but was unemployed for a little over a month and my new boss only has me scheduled 2-3 days a week so I keep getting further and further behind. I will be receiving EIC on my taxes so I can pay back whatever is borrowed to me then, plus interest if need be. Please help us. I've already received what help was available through DSS and Salvation Army, which I'm very grateful for but even with that, I'm still almost 2 months behind in my rent. Our family moved to a new town in June. It's a small country town that we thought would be a great place for our kids to grow up. Their utility company is completely owned by the town. The first few months we lived here, they charged us an outrageous amount of money for our water bill. When we asked about it, and asked why our bill after that was a normal amount, their response was, "you must have had a leak and had it fixed and now you are just lying about it". Because of the small amount my husband gets for Worker's Comp., we could not pay the outrageous bill at one time and we fell behind. A few days ago, they called and told us that we had to pay over $300 by the next day. They would not wait 2 more days until my husband got paid. They said if we didn't pay it the next day, we would have a disconnect notice and would need to pay over $700 by the 29th or everything would be shut off. By everything, I mean gas, electric, and water. They control it all. My husband tried to reason with the woman, explaining our situation, that we had 3 young children and he was only receiving worker's comp. Her response was, "OH WELL" and she hung up on him. We have contacted the PUCO and HEAP (energy assistance). They said there is nothing they can do because Deshler Utilities is not mandated by the state and do not have to follow the state laws. There is no assistance program available for them. The town makes the laws. The woman was very rude and uncaring. It's not as if we are lazy pieces of crap that don't want to work or pay our bills. We have fallen on hard times and they will not even work with us at all. They have no programs for low income families; nothing. We need help quick or everything is going to be shut off by the end of the month. We can't live with no electricity, water, or heat! It's almost winter. We are desperate for help!!! I went back to college at the age of 32 in the hopes of bettering my life and family. I graduated last month with a degree in Medical Assisting and have been job hunting for a couple of months with no luck yet. My husband has been off of work for over a year due to an injury. His worker's comp. only pays $394 every 2 weeks (less than $800 a month for a family of 5). The Utility Company doesn't care. We are the type of people that will put our last few dollars in a donation bucket or give our last $10 to the homeless man on the corner so that he can eat while everyone else drives by in their luxury cars completely ignoring him. in response to coolasilk...my gas was recently given the axe and I have yet to take a cold shower. It has dropped from the 70's to lower 60's in the day and low 40's and upper 30's at night. Going to be a looooooooooong winter here. I usuallly shower at the neighbors she's been a God-send.

Thank you for your kind-hearted post!Please refer to the attached link.A few months ago, I made every effort possible to help this Aidpage member find alternative transportation to and from his Doctor’s appointments besides the Veterans bus.Using this form of transportation takes about 3 to 4 hours roundtrip for each Doctor’s visit.He has endured multiple skin grafts, which has made his skin highly sensitive.Being in a sitting position for long periods of time causes damage to his skin.Unfortunately, I was unable to get find him the help he needs.Perhaps you can contact him directly in a one-to-one message to let him know about it.
I am currently unemployed but looking for work. I have pregnant wife, a 6 year old daughter and a stepson at home with me. My wife just had major surgery and is still recovering. I am in dire need of assistance getting my gas turned back on. I have an extremely high balance and equitable is saying that I have to pay it in full before my gas can get turned back on. I am afraid that if I do not get this taken care of soon, my pipes will end up frozen and then I will be in even more financial trouble. Please help. I hope to be able to pay it forward someday.
Hi I've just about tried everything I know about so that's why I am now on here. We need help we live in Hawaii. And yes everyone from the mainland is usually like oh your in paradise. Yes and no. It's beautiful but when you have been born and raised here and have leaved always below poverty most of your childhood and now doing the same with your own children, the palm trees slowly disappear, and the colors in the sunset aren't so bright anymore. The cost of living over here is thee craziest. I keep hearing everyone talking about how expensive a gallon of gas is in the mainland, we are almost at 5.00 a gallon of REGULAR. And it has not been at 3. In over a year. For rent I paid 1250.00 for a two bedroom apt. And I thought that was a good deal. I soon moved with my father after that and together we payed 1475.00 for a 3 bedroom house and that was a steal. Will I guess what I'm trying to say is any kind of help anyone out there can help me with will be very very much appreciated. Just to tell everyone a little about my family, Im 27 year old single mother of 3 beautiful girls. I once had a great and perfect all American but in a Hawaiian kind of twist family. I had great credit a great husband, great kids, a great house that we where buying, great cars. Of course my husband left me and my kids for someone else, he was the provider so I lost my home to fore closer and my car got repo I basically lost everything but my children. Along with him leaving me I was also became a victim of violence from him I think because he new he had done wrong and really screwed up he took it out on me. Now three years later I'm still struggling I lost my job and now am on un-employment which is basically nothing. A whole $374.00 every Two weeks. I get food stamps and now that I am unemployed i have job searched and applied for finical through welfare. If anyone knows if another program or anything that could help with anything. I am on here looking for any help at all. We recently took over a home from a family member that was losing it to a foreclosure. I didn't know at the time that there was also a considerable outstanding utility bill due. I have been trying to work with the utlity company but now we have a disconnect for Tues the 13th. I am self employed due to a very bad series of events and my wife who is 44 has Parkinsons. We have 4 children at home the oldest of which has Downs Syndrome. I have a felony conviction due to taking the fall as a manager for some things that my employees I was responsible did, so it is hard for me to find a regular position. I am working for about 6 different computer companies as an independent contractor. It just seems like with the restitution we have to pay every month and medicine and regular bills there is always something that doesn't get paid. My wife and I pray everyday for an angel of mercy to help us out in anyway possible. I would be so greatful for anything that anyone could do. I am willing to send information so that bills can be paid directly to the companies and I will be working to repay who ever can help. Bless you for reading this.
To those who live in TN, I am so sorry about your problems; however, for 2 weeks I have made every phone call to find help for many of you in TN. No funds from any place my heart breaks for you all. Never have I run into such heart breaking situations. Especially for the single mothers and the senior citizens. All churches are out of funds because many of their people are out of work. I live in Maryland and it is nothing like I have encountered in the south. I will pray thinghs change for all of you.

I have 3 kids, my boyfriend of 16 years walked out on me last year. I ended up having a nervious breakdown and was hospitalized for 7 days. In the hospital I was diagnosed with Bipolar I and Manic Depression. I am currently on medication. I have been out of work since February 2010 and actively seeking work with no luck. My house is in forclosure and my utilities are in the process of being shut off. The utility bills are high and are currently being shut off. Cable and internet are already off and any day now so will the electric. The water will be shut off if I don't pay the bill by August 12, 2011. The house is in forclosure the mortgage hasn't been paid in over a year. Any help you could give me would be great! I live in New Castle, DE!!!
Just checking in before I have a nap. Working 10 hours at a Waffle House will tend to make you tired. Not giving up hope that help will come for myself and my daughter. Without it I don't see how we will ever get a place of our own. Doesn't have to be fancy just something with a living room, kitchen, 1 bedroom and a bathroom. I work at night, so one bedroom would be fine for us.
I have been looking for a decent paying job for along time. I'm starting to think that theres no other way but to go about this the wrong way, and I really dont want to think like that. Let me give you some background. I'm a female-to-male transgender (i was diagnosed with GID, which is known as Gender Identity Disorder) and i'm also a fulltime inline study (my major is Criminal Investigations). I suffer from anxiety, depression, and social issues. I cant the surgery that it takes too make me normal. I mean, I cant even afford the Testostone shots that i should have been on a few years back. I want this more than anything i have ever wanted in my entire life, and its no like i go around asking people for money. Thats not what this is about. Please dont get the wrong idea. I'm asking for help right now because it seems to be my only way to live a decent life. I want to get married and be normal. I dont want to walk around as a freak the rest of my life. So i'm begging you, please help me.
I am the wife of a disabled veteran & I know from experience it is not easy to cope with the things he has to deal with on a daily basis. I love my husband more than ever & 35 years together has helped me to sense some of the burdens but don't ever say you know how he feels.We will never know what they go thru mentally. Sometimes they just need an ear or a sounding board.Not more advice, they get enough of that already. One place to get financial help is Human Resources for your area . Ask for a resource list & it will have orginizations listed;name, phone #; help available; ect.I will log back later & help anyone I can since we had to have help for 2 years & never lost our house, never went hungry or cold & kept our family together too. They responded that they were looking into it and once they had, NOVEC basically said we owed prior balances which was why the bill was so high, but the prior balances were high which is why we complained in the first place. Were just going to give up eating and pay our power bill, they win :(

I am in great need of some financial assistance with utilities - specifically my water bill and electricity bill. I currently have a job as a caseworker/social worker but do not make that much in income. My family has fallen on hard times just like many but we don't qualify for many of the programs out there due to my job. We fall just above the guidelines for help in many programs. I am currently looking for another job and selling off as many things as I can stand to get rid of. We do not have any extras in our home - cable, internet, etc... We have just about cut out everything we can that is not needed. Would really like to pay off my car - which is a 03 Pontiac Vibe. Only owe 700.00 more on the loan. Praying for a second part time job. Fillled out quite a few applications in the recent days. Please help if you can. My family is late on our mortgage as well but in the process of getting that caught up. We have one daughter that is going to be 16 on Sept. 11. Please help or pray for my family that we can get through this hard time.
I just lost my job yesterday, at this time my family's only source of income. My electricity is about to be shut off. I had a hold on my consumers' energy account until yesterday and have not been able to find any help. DHS is paying $1700 of it but I still need just over $1000. I have been stricking dead ends at every turn. My water bill is also unpaid, but I may have a couple more weeks on that one. My husband is currently serving a tether sentence in jail because we could not afford to pay the $84 per week for him to be home. My family is in desperate need.
Mine literly just got shut off 20 mins ago..they want 750 bucks. Just found out that HEAP closed may 13th for us. Yay. No knock on the doo, nothing. She snuck up in my yard like a ninja n turned it off. I went to check the stove and nothing. I have a 1 yr old too so this is going to be a shitty summer! Lots of showers at grammas and boiling water on electric burners :( its either rent electric food diapers or gas. We don't even havecellphone service on I'm on a cellphone using my neighbors wifi lol my car is sitting in the driveway with a lapsed insurance and suspended registration that can't even be renewed until september...ugh..fun times.
